Yeah, the last thing you do after you put the bird down is open up the throttle completely in case this very thing happens. Makes you realise how strong those cables must be to withstand both engines of an FA-18 on full burn every night.
They're just steel cables (the same as used on suspension bridges) and have a life cycle of about 100 landings then they are replaced. Nothing fancy or special.
