To be fair, many of Putin's statements seem fairly level headed so far.

To add to what Cud and Klawc said, I wouldn't be surprised if Russia steps up their targeted bombing of oil convoys heading towards Turkey and any IS controlled refineries in response to this. It is indeed interesting to see two clearly shady countries trade barbs though.
