Operation EMBARGO

Terrorists have seized control of a Military airbase North West of PARAISO on the southern Peninsula of Sahrani.


A large group of unknown Middle eastern "Terrorists" have struck a surprise and unmotivated blow against the peaceful island state of Sahrani. Quickly overwhelming the local defence forces they have killed and captured key personnel. Intelligence sourced from interviews with the local populace suggests they have transferred hostages south to the local town of Ortego.

The reason for their attack is unknown. Details of the enemy force, are scant but they are reported to be well equipped and in addition to their own arms; have captured a significant amount of Sahrani military hardware stored at the base. The details are unconfirmed but believed to include mobile Anti-Air capability and some Light Armor. This is preventing an effective re-taliation by Sahrani forces.

The people of Sahrani have requested urgent assistance from the British Government. HQ have instructed the Brigade to form an immediate response.


Background

Sahrani is a small, oil rich, temperate nation state with a history of staunch independance. In recent times they have made efforts to form closer ties with the United Kingdom. Our government has been negotiating to secure valuable Oil prospecting rights in territorial waters to the south of the Island. In return and as part of the negotiations we have been invited to work alongside their military in a pro-active sharing of tactics training and operational procedures.


Exercise "Hot-Dog"

3CB are taking part in a co-ordinated Army, Navy and Air Force exercise off the southern coast of Sahrani. Fresh from a tour in Afganistan, "Hot-Dog" was also supposed to be your chance to test out new Military equipment now being made available to the brigade.

The Mastiff, Ridgeback and Foxhound offer significant improvements over the older Jackal and Landrover snatch. Heavily armed and armored they offer the latest in high-tech protection.

Live fire exercises had been planned in conjuction with the Sahrani Defence forces, who have re-located many of their Military units North to a military training camp - but now you'll get a chance to use your new equipment in a real operation to rescue Sahrani units left to "Guard" their base.

The civilian population have fled through the narrow strip of land joining the south to the northern peninsular - but be sure to check and confirm targets that you actively engage. There could well be remnant Sahrani Defence forces still trapped in the South.

There is the possibility Civilian traffic may also be encountered during the operation.

In summary you will re-divert your resources to the succesful outcome of this priority mission.



Operational Details


Currently based on the small island of Rahmadi; 3 Commando Brigade are fortunately close enough to affect an immediate rescue mission to the Sahrani mainland.

Your section has been tasked with securing the town of ORTEGO and ascertaining the whereabouts and status of the hostages. If it's possible to rescue them, all care should be taken to avoid loss of life.

You will then make best speed north-west to the Airbase and re-capture this important military asset.

You will be transferred from your base by British Army Air-corp transport Assets to CORAZOL the key city linking the two peninsulars of Sahrani. An advance group of pathfinders have setup a small FOB. Where you can re-equip yourselves if needed.

You are to then to proceed on road to the town of Ortego where you will engage and defeat the Terrorist forces.

Once clear you will re-group and move to the Airbase to the North of the Island.


Primary Mission:

Take transport to Sahrani.

Prepare and form up an Armored convoy.

Proceed to ORTEGO and engage enemy forces

Re-form and proceed to Paraiso Airbase and engage enemy forces.


Secondary Missions

Search for Hostages

Destroy or Capture any Sahrani AA/Armor in the hands of Terrorists, this could allow Sahrani forces to assist in the operation safely.

We will not be running Serjames' mission this weekend as he is away.
