Certainly, they are very loud and keying in a PTT can be a PITA when things get hectic. Plus it adds to immersion/realism.

Some guy in the german ArmA 3 community, makes a monthly news video and it was mentioned there that they have a new guy working on TFAR now and that they would like to get new feature requests. The take requests etc. via Github.

Grasped some news about the development of TFAR. In the German ArmA forums, there is a long and old thread going on about if TFAR or ACRE2 is better. A guy who is involved in the development of TFAR posted some info about upcoming features.

They are working to improve the 3D sound in general and in the long run they want to use the 3D Sound system of TS. So far they are using something they made on their own.

Here you can see a test of a new system that should improve the way things sound when objects are between a sound source and somebody who hears it.


In version 1.0 they also want to improve the way sounds fade when using normal voice. So far it works like this:
• Whisper = 5m
• Normal = 20m
• Shout = 60m

If you are out of reach the voice just drops and there is no real fading. That is something they want to improve.


Intercom systems are also on their todo, but that is sheduled for versions after 1.0

Could they put in an ACE interact so company/troop IC's can use their radio operators radio? Would enable division of labour better while allowing response to requests to talk to Sunray

I had never really thought of this, but it sounds like it could be a really cool feature

Why don't we actually use ACRE? Is it because the transition will be too much of a hassle or some other reason? I remember SJ telling me in the patrol op trial that it's too complicated to use or something or other
