Landrovers

The mobile coffins are back on the roads.

Look good though. Should check them out and see how stable they run.

Not saying that we have to get rid of this mod at all but I just saw a post on the BS forum that indicated that this mod and the HAFM UK Wheeled landrovers share the same classname of BAF_Offroad_W.  I will investigate if this is true when I get home and I may change the class name of the landies in the UK wheeled pack.  Not sure how big a job that is going to be though.

Andy, I've been thinking a bit about this. BIS released all of these unbinarized models from arma 2, including the BAF and Czech addon packs. To be honest, there is no reason why we couldn't use the standard models and configs - along with the chinooks - and make our own 3cb vehicle pack. That way, we can name things from scratch, rather than reverse engineering things done by others.

'Our' Jackal/Landrover pack will have 3CB class names - I'll be doing that as part of the config work.

While on the subject of porting vehicles - there are two vehicles that I would really like to see imported properly into Arma 3 (and with the now uncovered expertise that we have in 3CB, I think we can do it):

1. Foxhound - The British Army Snatch Land Rover  replacement. I've imported it into A3 once before, but it requires some minor adjustments. Stopped working on it as I spoke to someone on the BI forums who knows the creator of the model and he said he may be working on an A3 version of it already. That was a few months ago now and nothing has been released, perhaps we could give it another shot?

2. Apache - This is really the last thing left missing from our British vehicle arsenal. We have Merlins, Chinooks, Wildcats, Challengers, Jackals, and now Land Rovers,  - now it's time to finish the set and bring in the ultimate close air support chopper. As I was typing this I saw that this is already part of our roadmap, so I'd like to be really demanding and ask that perhaps we can make it our goal to have this added before 2015? :P

Soon, gentlemen, our British arsenal will be complete.

I'll have a look for the Apache models and configs. It will need reskinned though. As for the Foxhound, is it open source or would we need permission from the original modeller in order to port it across? Do you know who that is so that we could ask? Also, how far did you actually get with the port? What would we need to do in order to complete it?
