Weapon Safety


Weapon Safety

So I don't know if anyone has seen this but it is a nice little mod, it pretends to be a weapon safety by emptying the magazine of your weapon.  It also stops you from throwing any grenades so that deadly fragging at the beginning of a mission when everyone is changing loadouts could be a thing of the past.

Oh and it is in play with six as well.

On the public yes. But how many times have we had a ND as were are moving up on the enemy.

Yes we would be in the AO but in real life you don't go wandering around with a round in the chamber with the safety off cause that is just asking for trouble.  And yes I know Arma isn't real life, but it would still add an extra bit of realism of having to take the safety off before returning fire.

We always used this in ACE - was especially important when medding other people as sometimes you'd accidentally shoot your patient :P

Arf has a nice solution - he showed me how he just manually removes the mag from the weapon when in base.

Adding a safety switch to weapons seems a nice step forward for realism and didn't seem to detract from the fun when implemented in A2 ACE.
It was particularly useful when Alt Tabbing out of game, when applying meds, during regroups, or when strolling down a road in staggered column.

The downside is that it is 'another' mod with unknown overhead and compatibility at this time, so would need some good testing.
It wouldn't be a critical "must have", so I think it's correct to advise caution before we jump on it.

Yup, that's a good point. Not sure I knew that a weapon wouldn't fire when lowered.

trouble is it brings itself up - especially if you change posture sometimes - not a reliable safety - but good practice and polite in base....
