Night Vision sorcery

What is this sorcery?
These are camera's, though it bloody looks like it could just aswell been a bad daylight sensor.
This is a massive step in night vision stuff

Gucci piece of kit.

It'll take the MoD 20+ years to notice it, before they actually start handing out the stuff

That one lad from Essex.

Well its still quite large and probably not so usefull on the battlefield yet though the technology inside should be usefull for the next generation.
Though with the light polution nowadays you wouldnt really need NV anymore.

That.... looks like an unbelievably large step. In an unbelievably small package.

Combine that with a website that's broken, a bunch of removed Youtube videos, and no reasonable corroboration of this performance that I can see.... and I suspect something is awry here.

EDIT: quite aside from the concept of colour from IR, and the IR laser showing up as purple?!

If it can be made a touch smaller I don't see why they wouldn't use it, the WSIR was a beast:

Also, if you bomb the living pap out of a countries infrastructure there's no more light polution, so yeah NV is needed.

i'm with nick on this though, "somethings awry" (reading gaunts atm) the webby etc don't add up, if this shows up more then perhaps.

This looks to be their website and seems to be working for me, https://www.x20.org/color-night-vision/
As for IR showing up purple, if that camera is so suffisticated how difficult would it be to force IR beam to a purple color on screen?

Not too difficult, especially given the huge amount of image processing they already appear to be doing.

Also a little skeptical.

The technology for 'color vision' as it were in dark conditions is something that's been around for a while. Just watch this video and see what happens when the gain gets amped up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55H4t32wLpA

The real test for this X27 would be on an overcast night with no starlight. NVG's require at least some light to function, if you go into a pitch black room with NVG's on; it's still gonna be pitch black. I used to have an image on my previous hard drive showing the view through an NVG with no starlight whatsoever, it's really grainy and everything blends towards the same shade of green. Doing my best to find it on Google.
