L7A2 FIST by H&K aka Golden gympy

After some searching i finally found out why is that gun "golden". At the first i thought it titanium made body but than i found this:

http://ukarmedforcescommentary.blogspot ... ality.html

Lightweight L7A2 GPMG revealed in June, sporting a welcome 1.8 kg reduction inweight thanks to modifications that include a fluted barrel, picatinny rail for
sights on top cover, folding butt, “dark earth” colored body matching the Multi
Terrain Pattern camouflage and an improved feed tray with ‘pawls’ to stop the
ammo belts from slipping around. This gun does not include titanium-made body,
which has been mooted for a long time and is possibly still being trialed. It
might not have been judged mature enough yet, or it might be a money problem.
In any case, it remains desirable and under study at Cranfield: it is estimated
that it might imply a saving of up to 3 kg.
For the future, beyond Afghanistan, a Lightweight GPMG remains a stated army priority.

Better pics than the ones we had. Good feedback. Thanks. SJ

Yeah, the mod team didn't just include it for 'bling' purposes, as I've seen at least one youtube review suggest. :D It is just a shame the gpmg model is so bad. We've been trying to source a new one, but without luck.

The article was written in 2012 and the weapon is just a trial and was obviously written by a civvy.

Ingame it is also about 1.70 kg lighter than the normal version. :)

We had that info when we added it to the weapons pack (including the top image).

Which in the default loadout isn't really that helpful. The gimpy should really come with its own personal ammo bearer.

Everything helps but we might "play wrong" in a lot of situations. Pretty much all other roles are more or less self sufficient.

My rifleman loadouts weights 28.17kg and in a full squad you can usually play for a quite a while without the need for a resupply.
My LMG loadout is obviously heavier with its 34.52kg, but it also works quite well like the rifleman loadout.
My GPMG loadout that does not have the lightweight version is 40kg and has five belt, which wont last nearly as long as the ammo for my other loadouts. It's worth mentioning that I already try not to waste ammo with it and I always shoot in short bursts.

The thing is that we often play like this:
1. We drive to a area in vehicles. The vehicles has supplies in it.
2. We push forward on foot.
3. We push much further on foot.
4. We push even further on foot.
5. Vehicle is now 1 to 1.5km away from your position.
6. GPMG is low or out of ammo.

When you have your vehicle around you or some sort of stationary supply in the area it works much better and you are still flexible with the GPMG.

This super bugs me too. Been saying it for ages. But we don't have a dedicated unit to drive. Or more specifically we have no training in section manoeuvres using a vehicle.
