Yes, it blocks AI vision.

It has exactly the same number of particles as vanilla smoke, so performance should be comparable.

EDIT: Although since its more effective than vanilla smoke you'll probably only need a single round, so overall performance could improve.

I have an issue with mods that force alterations on vanilla equipment

They're duplicates essentially, distinguishable in arsenal by having 3CB as their author. And both for LT and for the 3 "Red Berks", frames were absolutely peachy - hardly a scientific metric, but a positive indicator for that level of obscuration I'm sure you'll agree ;)
