Suggestion \ RPG Shooting At Helicopters


When it comes to helicopters, the AI will (rightfully) not engage "fast" moving helos with unguided projectiles. It however will shoot vehicles that are stationary, like a helicopter that has landed or is about to take off. Otherwise the AI is a bit more "reasonable" as players that try to pull this off and that will eventually miss 99,99% of the time.

There is no war to end all wars.

It's worse than that, AI does engage moving helos with RPGs and is stupidly accurate. If your TRANSVERSAL speed is below about 80kph, your course unchanging, and you're within 500m, then they'll nail you most of the time.

Anyway, this isn't a public server suggestion so much as a request for the overhaul of the underlying game engine's AI...

All of the AI mods I've seen in my time have had some fantastic features, and some very broken behaviour. A few have made things noticeably chuggy as soon as combat is entered. They are not something to just take lightly as a panacea.

But returning to the original point: the firing of things like RPGs at helicopters in flight is determined by the AI's confidence of hitting, and the "costs" of the weapon and target. This is not something that needs a mod, as it already happens.

Okay, cool. But the issue is still resolved as the requested behaviour/feature already exists? I mean, we can keep arguing about that if you really want, but I don't really see the point. :)
