I've also had extensive experience (over 100 hours) working with the F3 framework and I found it exactly as Goodson describes. Bloated and difficult to follow because of it's multiple references to other scripts and functions. Hopefully your framework will not be like that.
No time spent on the framework has been a waste - trust me.
You might have made a s**t ton of coding I did the other day irrelevant, but it's for the best. *sniff*
Perhaps dom isn't referring to a template/framework, but it reads like he is.
don't knock it before you know what's in it, is all I'm saying.
Not knocking it (where did I say that?!), just giving my opinion that you might find some effort will be wasted (see dom's comment above for the first instance).
